Robert James Feller Sr. 83 of Columbia, MO passed away Saturday October 12, 2024, in Warrensburg, MO at the Missouri Veterans Home following a long illness.
Robert Feller, better known as Bob, was born August 24, 1941, in Cairo, IL to Charles and Catherine (Bower) Feller. The 4th of 6 children, Bob graduated in 1959 from Forman High School in Manito, IL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1959 to 1962. He was preceded in death by his first wife Vicky, his parents, two brothers Charles Jr. (Chuck), and Verne along with his three sisters Iva Mae Clark, Joyce Stone, and Diane Nelson. As well as a granddaughter Chelsea. Bob is survived by his wife Tracy of the home, from Columbia, MO. Sons William Charles “Bill” of Blue Springs, MO and Robert James Jr. “Jim”, his wife Cathy of Overland Park, KS along with his stepchildren John Peterson of Seattle, WA and Samantha Peterson of Casper, WY. His five grandchildren Summer, Becky, Cody, Cayleigh, and Robert James III “Bobby”, and three great grandchildren Jadren, Walker, and Titus, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
After the Army Bob received his degree in Mortuary Science from Worsham School of Mortuary Science in Chicago, IL. Then began working as a Funeral Director for the Clugston Funeral home in Macomb, IL from 1963 until 1968. He joined Shelter Insurance Company the old MFA Insurance Company in 1968 working 32 years with MFA/Shelter Insurance Company starting as a District Sales Manager in Ft. Smith, AR, then followed as State Sales Manager positions in Baton Rouge, LA when the company expanded into Louisiana, then up to Kansas City, MO as the State manager for western Missouri. He was then promoted to Western Regional Sales Manager in St. Louis, MO up until his final position as the Vice President of Marketing and Sales in Columbia, MO, before retiring in September 2001.
Bob was an avid golfer and could always be found on the links at the Country Club of Missouri playing golf with his buddies in the beloved DOTS group or walking their dog Callie around the neighborhood. He enjoyed watching Mizzou Football and Basketball games, along with annual fishing trips with the boys, and puzzle books. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Columbia, MO.
Visitation will be from 1-3pm Monday, 21 October 2024 at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Columbia, MO. The funeral service will be at 3pm followed by a committal service in the Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in his name to either the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, MO or to Coyote Hills Christian Children’s Home in Harrisburg, MO
