Marlene was born October 19, 1937 in Kansas City, MO to Jerry and Ila (Womble) Bishop. Marlene graduated from Butler High School in Butler, MO in 1955. She went to Truman State (formerly NMSU) and received her Master’s Degree in Accounting.
Marlene worked in the accounting field for several years before retiring to enjoy life.
Marlene enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who often called her “Grandma Grape.” She also enjoyed reading, spending time with family, following the Kansas City Chiefs, and any type of racing.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents.
She leaves behind four children, Dr. Marcia Dixson (Al Pugh) of Fort Wayne, IN, Deborah Donovan (Dave) of Columbia, Sharon Buck (Eddie) of Kirksville, and Douglas Edgar of Columbia; nine grandchildren, Lance Dixson (Jessica) of Fort Wayne, IN, Jessica Knigge (Nate) of Columbia, Ashlei Kemp of Prairie Home; Lindsay Dixson of Fort Wayne, IN, Nicholas Edgar (Valerie) of Lafayette, CO, Cale Johanning of Moberly, and William, Joseph and Elizabeth Edgar all of Columbia; and five great grandchildren, Addison and Greyson Knigge, Rylie Kemp, and Ariana and Averie Dixson. She also leaves a brother, Jerry Bishop (Norma) and sister, Donna Davis (Rick), and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, February 20, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. with services following at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Marlene’s honor to American Heart Association or American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
