Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20 from 6 PM – 8 PM at Broadway Christian Church in Columbia. The funeral service will take place at 11 AM on Thursday, December 21, also at Broadway Christian Church, followed by interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born on May 2, 2007, Maria was adopted by her loving parents Jerry and Lisa “Charlie” Thomas at the age of 5. She brought so much joy to her family and to everyone she met. Maria was a student at Rock Bridge High School and a member of Broadway Christian Church; both places she greatly enjoyed. She volunteered with MizzouThon and was an “honorary assistant professor” in the OT/PT program at the University. She was also a “page for a day” with the Missouri State General Assembly in Jefferson City.
At home, Maria was often a “girl on the go,” rocking in her rocking chair, enjoying her swing outside, listening to music, playing with toys, swimming and joking around. She was a beautiful child with a beautiful spirit who will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Maria is survived by her brothers Brian (Michelle) Thomas, Troy (Ashley) Thomas, Tyler (Taylor) Thomas and Grant (Vanessa) Thomas; grandparents Donald and Beverly Brooks; aunts Lila Sloan, Susie Smith, Sue Silkey; uncles Colby Brooks and Gayland Brooks; three nieces: Natalie, Adaleigh and Elizabeth as well as one nephew: Felix. Maria is preceded in death by her uncle Sammy Brooks and grandparents George and Maxine Thomas.
