Janet Kay Toalson

Services are Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Columbia, MO. A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM with burial following the service.

Janet was born in Mexico, MO to John Bonney and Dorothy (Wilcox) Bonney on December 17, 1939. Janet lived with her parents and older brother in St. Louis then later went to live with her mother, brother and grandparents in Centralia, MO. Janet graduated from Centralia High School in 1958. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Loyd Toalson on July 13, 1959 while Don was on a three day leave from the U.S. Navy. Janet was a member of the Hallsville Baptist Church. Janet worked in her early years as a bank teller for Boone County National Bank and later for Raymond Easley at the Boone County Collector’s Office.

Janet spent most of her adult life as a wife, mother and homemaker alongside her husband raising hogs and cattle on their farm east of Hallsville. Janet was known as a caretaker, taking great care of her parents who lived in the home with her and her husband of 57 years until the time of their passing. Janet loved being a stay at home mom to her daughter, Torrie. Janet also loved attending church, reading, shopping, and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed going to the Centralia Anchor Fest each year to meet up with her high school friend. Janet loved being a grandma to her only grandchild, Victoria Grace Smith. Most recently Janet had the honor of becoming a great-grandmother to Sawyer, Shiloh and Sorren Smith. Who affectionately called her GG. Janet’s greatest joy was seeing and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Janet is survived by her daughter Torrie Vroman (Steve) of Hallsville, her granddaughter Victoria Smith (Justin) of Hallsville, her three great-grandsons, Sawyer Don Smith, Shiloh Vroman Smith and Sorren Mace Smith all of Hallsville. One niece Kim Landman (Nathaniel) of St. Peter’s, MO, great-niece Chelsea Landman Westfahl (Kevin) of NY, great-niece Hayley Landman of Oakland, CA, and great-nephew Joshua Landman of Irvine, CA, brother-in law Duane Toalson (Luana) of Gardner,KS, sister-in-law Beverly Kirk (Darrell) of Branson, MO, nephew Randall Kirk of Branson, MO nephew Stephen Kirk (Katie), Ipswich, SD, Debbie Goodwin (Russell) Gardner, KS, Paula Cunningham (Mitch) Gardner, KS, and many other great-nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy May Toalson, Estil Toalson, her husband of 57 years Donald Toalson, her brother Jerry Bonney and her sister-in-law Rita Bonney.
