James (Jim) R. Dicus, 84 of Columbia, MO passed away Friday, August 6, 2021 from complications of Alzheimer’s. A private committal service will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Jim was born April 7, 1937 in El Paso, TX, the only child of Robert and Marjorie Guyman Dicus. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from the University of Texas-El Paso, and worked a short career at the Nevada Test Site. He went to work as a stagehand in Las Vegas working for several venues where he did lighting, sound, and stage set-ups. While working at the Sands, he met his wife, Donna Welborn. After retiring, he went to work again for the City of Boulder, NV as their only building inspector. He also served in the US Army in Alabama in the early stages of the Vietnam War. After some time, he and Donna reconnected and remarried on May 13, 2014 in Richfield, UT. In total they spent 25 years married. He was a very talented musician and could play multiple instruments.
Jim is survived by his wife, Donna Welborn-Dicus of Columbia. He was preceded in death by his parents.
