Catherine Christman, 69, of Columbia, MO passed away Monday, February 5, 2018 at her home after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 3pm, Friday, February 9, 2108 at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia. With burial to follow in Columbia Cemetery. Friends may gather from 1-3pm at the Funeral Home before the service.
Catherine was born April 16, 1948 in Tuscola, IL to Myron and Mary Carroll. Upon graduating from Tuscola Illinois High School in 1966, she attended the University of Missouri where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in education and Masters in Counseling. She married Dr. H. Fred Christman on August 25, 1971 in Columbia. She began her career at Oakland Junior High in Columbia; teaching English under Principal Wayne Walker, whom she held in high esteem. She would later become the counselor with Hallsville Schools. After 16 years in education, she decided to become the receptionist for her husband’s dental practice; where she would work from 1986-2017.
Cathy’s many joys included baking, playing piano, spoiling her beloved shelties, and collecting antiques. She formerly owned Sho Me Estate Sales, hosting estate sales and doing appraisals. She also co-owned the antique mall on Business Loop 70 in Columbia for several years. Cathy was always first in line to help anyone in need, was well known for her wonderful homemade meals, and baked goods. She never met a stranger. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by the love of her life, Dr. H. Fred Christman. She was preceded in death by her parents.
