Susan Nell Ellison

Susan Nell Ellison, age 70, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2020 in her home in Ellicott City, Maryland. Born in South Carolina, Susan was preceded in death by her parents Earl Dabney and Nell Jordan Dabney. She is survived by her three children, Ann Marie Handwork, David Ellison and Richard Ellison; son-in-law Paul Handwork and daughters-in-law Elizabeth Seif and Barbara Ellison; nine grandchildren, Kaitlyn Middleton, Jenna Middleton, Logan Handwork, Kaitlyn Handwork, Leo Middleton, Joel Ellison, Luke Ellison, Samuel Ellison, and William Ellison; sister Ethel Comer and brother-in-law George Comer; close relatives Christy Tafoya and Sandra Britton, and nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends.

Susan worked at Winter Growth Assisted Living Facility and truly loved feeling that her work made a difference in the value of people’s lives. Susan loved to travel to visit family and especially loved visits to the beach. She loved the water, whether watching the waves from the shore, dolphin and sandpiper watching, or going sailing. Those who were close to her loved her warm smile, grateful heart, selflessness, witty sense of humor, love of family and of God. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and did so every opportunity she had. She was very proud of her family, and was a devoted friend. She will be sorely missed by many.

Susan’s life will be celebrated during a private service May 24, 2020, in Sandbridge, Virginia, a place that was near and dear to her heart.
