Donald was born on July 11, 1949 to Joseph and Mary Elizabeth. He married his wife Marilyn in 1978 and they have lived together at their home in Columbia, Maryland, for the past thirty years. He graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, and was a lifetime fan of the Terrapin basketball team. He worked for over thirty years in computer services at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C., from which position he retired in 2013.
Donald enjoyed growing tomatoes and other vegetables in a community garden plot near his home. Together with Marilyn, he participated in ballroom dancing for many years, including participating in showcase events. In addition to the sports clubs of his alma mater, he was an avid follower of local sports, notably the Baltimore Orioles. Church was very important to him, he enjoyed attending Bible study and reading about religious matters and world history. In addition to reading, he kept his mind sharp with challenges such as crossword puzzles and competing from home while watching Jeopardy.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn, his sister Betty Jo, his son Philip, his son Matthew and daughter-in-law Jessie, and his grandchildren Nora and Dane.
Memorial services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 6800 Oakland Mills Rd, Columbia, MD, 21045 on Sunday, November 13th, 2022, at 1PM.
