Shirlee Steele of Redlands passed away peacefully at home on January 25th at the age of 85. She was born in Petaluma California to Lorenzo and Mary Holybee. In 1956 she married Larry Steele of Redlands. They were married 61 years before his passing.
Shirlee was preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry and brother William. She is survived by their 3 daughters, Pam (Steve) Brock of Redlands, Brenda Lunde (Galen) of Grand Terrace and Sherri (Steve) Poindexter of Arizona, 8 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Bethyl Mae Lotze of Indiana, brother Maurice Holybee of California and her companion of 5 years, Henry Shelton.
A member of the San Bernardino High School marching band, Shirlee played the saxophone and later became a bookkeeper for the Redlands Unified School District. Larry and Shirlee together owned Edwards TV for 27 years where they enjoyed many cruises and trips that they earned. They also spent time RVing, boating and camping with family and friends. Nana, as she was known to her Grands and Greats, was an avid crocheter and they all have benefited from her labors of love.
Services will be on Saturday February 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM at First Congregational Church, 2 W Olive Ave, Redlands, CA 92373 with reception to follow.
