Dorothy Louise Robinson

Dorothy Louise Tates was born on March 19, 1941 to Lynn and Velma Tates in Yazoo, Mississippi. At an early age Dorothy joined and was baptized at Betheal Missionary Baptist Church in Carter’s Mississippi.

Dorothy attended Montgomery High School and was voted homecoming queen of her class. She then graduated on May 14, 1958. Upon graduating she earned a scholarship to attend Mississippi Vocational College which is now known as Mississippi Valley State University. However, in 1958 she decided to relocate to California to attend Los Angeles City College and study Electronic Engineering. Dorothy moved in with her grandmother (Annabelle Brown). Her grandmother was quick to introduce her to Lessie Ross who lived next door. Dorothy and Lessie remained best friends for life.

In 1959 she had her first child, Leonard Frieson. In 1960 she was introduced to Albert James Robinson by her grandmother. Albert and Dorothy married on January 21, 1961. Their marriage produced three daughters, Michelle, Sandra, and Stacey.

Dorothy began her Engineering Career at Electronics Memory INC. in 1968. In 1971 she was hired at Hughes Aircraft which later became Raython where she inspected the radar system for the F-16 Fighter (Fighting Falcon) for the U.S. Air Force. After 28 years, Dorothy retired and moved to Moreno Valley to be near her sister Jean Armstrong where they attended Trinity Baptist Church.

On June 10th, 2024 the Lord called Dorothy home. She is survived by Leonard (Pamela) Frieson, Michelle Robinson-Ross, Sandra (Gary) Toles and Stacey (Burness Jr.) Scott. Grandchildren: Antwon Frieson, Nichele (Allen) Alinea, Jasmine Frieson, Baileigh Scott, Burness Scott III. Great Grandchildren: Jahbril Frieson, Kamrom Frieson, Thai Renee Rodriguez, Aaliyah Frieson, Alani Alinea, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
