Early Years

Davey Allen Palmer, business man and entrepreneur, devoted son, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 26, 2019. He was born May 28, 1956, to George and Catherine Palmer, Sr. Davey was the sixth of ten children, and his father served thirty years in the United States Marine Corps which contributed to Davey’s love of travel.

A graduate of Eisenhower High School, San Bernardino Valley College and Cal State Long Beach, Davey was the first child in his family to go to college where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and Music. While attending college Davey married his first love Brittania McClellan, and two children were born in this union Aftan and Dave Jr.; he considered his children one of his greatest accomplishments.

An Ambitious Man

A resident of Riverside County, Davey was ambitious and held several jobs as a young man that included Norton AFB Commissary as a Bagger including working at Lucky’s and Safeway grocery stores. His thrive to be an entrepreneur included selling Amway products, he enjoyed being a salesman (he could sell you anything); he also worked at Sun Newspaper, Press Enterprise and Los Angeles Times.

Davey professional career was at the State of California, where he worked in the California Youth Authority (C.Y.A) where he was promoted to a Parole Officer and a Correction Counselor at the state prison. He worked for the State of California for over thirteen years. His last role was that of a Professional Petitioner. He enjoyed his job that required he traveled to different states.

A Life of Faith “I’m Blessed”

Davey accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young boy and he loved going to church and hearing the Word of God. He became an Evangelist in 1995, and was the founder of Touch of Heaven Outreach Ministries. This phone ministry allowed listeners to dial in on Sunday mornings and to listen to Davey teach the Word of God. Davey was also passionate about sharing the Word of God to the homeless and he would go to grocery stores, gathered donated food to feed homeless people.

A writer, counselor, and speaker Davey accomplished a lot. He wrote and published several books about God, including topics on How to Become Successful, Managing Your Debt, etc.

Life of the Family

Davey was a man of knowledge and wisdom, full of laughter and joy. He always had a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. A hug that squeezed you until you couldn’t breathe, and a hard-firm hand shake that you wouldn’t forget. He loved, loved home cooked soul food, chitterlings, pig feet, collard greens, black-eyed peas, candied yams, corn bread, pineapple coconut cake, fired fish, fried chicken and gumbo. He was always there to brighten the lives of others, he enjoyed life, family and friends and had a special love for his brothers; he didn’t believe in holding onto grudges and often commented that “life is too short.”

Our dad, brother, grandfather, uncle Davey was also a man who enjoyed singing and recording music; he participated in talent shows and performed with his high school Madrigals. He loved sports, his favorite was football, basketball and track & field. In his younger years, he loved to fish, grunion runs, bowling, playing basketball with his brothers and his Sunday Bid Whiz card games with his family.

“Rest In Glory”

We Believe Heaven is welcoming Davey with open arms. Preceding him in death is his father George Palmer, Sr., his baby brother Art Palmer, nephew Johnathon Brown, including his grandparents and many other family members and friends.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother Catherine Palmer, his daughter Aftan Palmer, his son Dave Palmer, Jr., siblings Katherine Lewis (husband Ron), George Palmer, Jr. (wife Rhennay), Dennis Palmer (wife Ilse), Douglas Palmer (wife Jo Jo), Patricia Brown, Phyllis Palmer-Mason (husband Kpehe), Sylvia Palmer, Marc Palmer, one precious granddaughter, Layla Palmer, his sweetheart Veola Harris, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and great aunt.
