Our prayer go out to Skipper and his family.  I am a second cousin to him.  My name is Patrick Fisher from Maryland, Skipper was nephew to my Grandmother Juanita Scott Buckley.

Skip, Jeff and I extend our deepest condolences to you, Kathy and your kids after learning of your father's passing. Such a great life he lead and an even better legacy left behind. He was a remarkable man. Hold dear the good memories. Be at peace that he is with your mom again, basking in the light of the Savior. 

It is with great sorrow to learn of the death of  a great leader  and  outstanding  military Leader. I served with  general Scott in 1953 in South  Carolina . The high point of my service with general Scott was the day he  took me for a ride in the back seat of a t33 jet aircraft.        A  great  loss  of a wonderful  human .

General Scott was my superintendent at NMMI. He recognized my academic potential and wrote me a stellar letter of recommendation, which I believe was key to my admission to Princeton University.


But General Scott was also an open-minded man. I met him some years later at an NMMI reunion. He smiled genuinely at me and said, "We sent you back East and you turned into a liberal, didn't you?" 


"Yes sir," I said.  His smile grew wider and he shook my hand strongly, respect positively glowing from his face.


General Scott was a patriot in the truest sense, always honoring the complexity and diversity of the United States of America. He was an outstanding soldier and aviator and the finest military educator I have ever known. The Institute was blessed to have him in charge during my tenure at the school, and he made a real difference in my education.  


I can only hope that my alma mater, and all the schools of America, receive guidance as wise as his in the future.

I was a member of the folk group that played at morning mass from '84-'87. It encouraged me to see Gen Scott at morning mass. And he often had such kind words for us after mass. It was also inspiring when he participated in many of Class '87 events throughout our 4 years. I will miss him. I will be praying for family members for God's strength and courage.
