Virgil “Steve” Henderson, 75, of Colorado Springs went to be with our Lord on July 18, 2019. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on November 17, 1943, a proud son of Pearl Harbor Survivor, Virgil R. Henderson and June Geist Henderson. He had a successful 30-year career with the Gates Rubber Company, Denver. In June, Steve and his wife, Gloria, celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife, Gloria, daughter Aimee, and granddaughters Ashlyn, Avery, and Alyssa. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019, 2 p.m. at the Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to: Pacific Historic Parks, a nonprofit 501(c)3, that partners with the Pearl Harbor National Memorial (USS Arizona) where Steve was a beloved and longtime volunteer. All donations made in honor of Steve Henderson will go to Pacific Historic Parks’ support of the Pearl Harbor National Memorial’s education, research, preservation, and restoration to preserve the memory of events and honor the people involved in World War II at this hallowed site.
