Susan M. Gallagher was born December 28, 1951 in New Haven, Connecticut to Francis and Nora (Dempsey) Gallagher. Sue was the fourth of six children. She grew up in Connecticut attending Catholic schools and upon graduation from high school took a job at Alberta Magnus where she continued working for the Catholic Church.
Sue joined the United States Air Force in 1976 to pursue her twenty year military career mostly as Security Forces (Federal Cop). Her career took her overseas to the United Kingdom and to an assignment to NATO where she was in international security responding only to the German government in Bonn. Her follow-up assignment from Germany to Belgium came from the State Department. After leaving Europe, her stateside assignments included Michigan where she worked security (government support of dignitaries) as well as law enforcement. She next went to Alaska and then to Hanscom AFB working with multiple space and communication programs. After retiring from the USAF, work was employed by the government working in a System Program Office (SPO) for 1 year. She left there and worked for the Post Office for 18 months and delivered flowers for the Flowers Flower shop for 7 years. Leaving the flower shop, she travelled with family to many National Parks.
She is survived by her sister, Ellen Richard, and a sister-in-law Susan Gallagher (brother James’ wife) and many nieces and nephews and grand nephews David Cruz and Jaxson Richard.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am at Holy Apostles Catholic Church 4925 N. Carefree Circle, Colorado Springs, 80917 followed by a luncheon at the church. Interment will follow at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs.
