Ruth Quam Sible was born on May 12, 1935 to Eli and Hannah Quam in Buffalo Center, Iowa. She had a wonderful childhood growing up with her brothers and sister on the family farm. She received her Bachelors degree from the University of Northern Iowa, her Masters degree from the University of Northern Colorado and completed various post graduate studies at universities nation wide.
Ruth moved to Colorado Springs in 1964 to become a counselor at Palmer High School. She advised students about university opportunities and was so helpful and encouraging that years later, many students would contact her to thank her.
Ruth married Norman John Sible and together they made friends around the world on every continent. Moorea was a favorite destination and they had many happy days there. Visits with Ruth were filled with stories about marvelous sights, meeting new people and learning about other cultures.
Ruth was a dear friend to so many. She loved to celebrate and never forgot a birthday or anniversary or annual traditions. Her lifelong friends know her generous spirit. We have many fond memories of raising a glass of wine on special days shared with loved ones. She always saw the best in people and lived a joy filled life. She will be missed by all her knew her.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Norman “Jack” John Sible, brothers, Morris and Robert Quam and her parents, Eli and Hannah Quam. Surviving family include her sister Doris Jensen, her niece Nadia Greiss, nephew Amine Judos and great nieces, Doris and Hannah Padilla, and Isabella Martinez, and her niece, Sue Lang. Also surviving are her stepson, Steve Sible (Kathy), granddaughter, Jennifer Simpson (Garth), grandson, Todd Sible (Jessica) and five great grand children.
We will miss her kind and loving presence in this world. Her family would like to thank all of the many friends at Brookdale Senior Living and the wonderful caregivers at Pikes Peak Hospice. There will be a private family celebration of her life later this summer.
