Ruth Jacqueline Adrian Huggins

Ruth Jacqueline Adrian Huggins passed away peacefully on February 10, 2022 at her apartment in Colorado Springs at the age of 98, but her zest for life and sense of humor will continue to inspire those who have loved her.

Born November 17, 1923 in San Jose, CA to Ethel and Giles Adrian, Ruth graduated from Santa Clara Union High School in 1941 and went off to San Francisco to seek employment and adventure. Happily, she found both—a job at Baldwin Piano Company and a handsome sailor named Doug Huggins. They married on December 13, 1942, raised two children and experienced life in several different regions of the U.S. from coast to coast. In 1990 they landed in Cumming, GA, where they enjoyed a retirement filled with travel and good friends.

Ruth loved entertaining, traveling, reading, and needlepoint…but most of all, she loved her family. She took great pride in making each house a warm and welcoming place for them, cooking their favorite meals, supporting school and sporting activities, and generally being a loving presence and a source of wisdom through times both happy and sad. In 2013 they packed up one last time and moved to Colorado Springs, CO to be closer to their family.

After 73 years of marriage, Ruth was predeceased by Doug in 2016, and is survived by her daughter Judith Huggins Hendricks, son James Douglas Huggins, grandchildren Jonathan Huggins and Jennifer Huggins Forest, and great grandchildren, Jacob Daniel Huggins, Joseph Matthew Forest, Margaret Jacqueline Forest, and James Leon Forest.

A memorial service will be held at Swan-Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs at 10:30AM on Monday, February 28. Interment will follow at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs at 2:00PM.
