Roberta Jones, age 95, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on November 22, 2013 at a local care center. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Roberta Jane Buchanan was born on March 3, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois to the late David John and Ruby (Shepherd) Buchanan. She grew up in Denver, Colorado and met William A. Jones while attending college in Fort Collins. William and Roberta were married on December 14, 1940 in Colorado Springs, and later moved from Fort Collins to raise their family in Lakewood.
Roberta and William loved to travel the country in their motor home, participate in events at the Colorado Springs Senior Center, and ballroom and square dance together. Roberta was busy for forty years breeding and caring for her miniature dachshunds. She also loved to make ceramic dolls. Above all, Roberta enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her three daughters: Claudia (husband, Carl) Barteck of Colorado Springs; Beverly Jones of Lakewood; and Marilyn Boatright of San Rafael, California. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Christine, Scott, Kelly, Kevin, Kim, Kyle, Lisa, and Ryan; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 2003.
Private family services will be held. Private interment will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
