Randell William Bartlett was born August 19, 1951, in Center, CO. He was the second of five children born to William Reeves Bartlett and Margie Ann Mini Bartlett. Raised in Monte Vista, CO, Randy was an exuberant and talented child, always looking for his next adventure that ranged from putting on layers of clothes to partake in a BB gun fight to catching frogs and snakes, then bringing them home. He was a talented musician who played the cornet before becoming Drum Major and helping lead his school to have an award-winning band.
Randy attended the University of Colorado Boulder, where he met Dorothy Eileen Davis and they became college sweethearts. Randy and Dorothy married on August 16, 1975, in Eugene, Oregon, where Randy completed his Degree in Accounting, before they ultimately moved back to Colorado to build their lives together. Randy worked as a CPA for several years before finding his true passion as a business entrepreneur and built a company where he enjoyed working as a business broker.
Randy and Dorothy welcomed three beautiful children into the world: Kevin David, Christopher William, and Gwendolyn Marie, and he shared his many passions with them. He carried his musical talents throughout his life and enjoyed singing and playing the guitar and piano by ear for his children throughout their childhood. He was a child at heart, which came out in droves when he would play with his kids and make everyday tasks fun, such as, instead of just shoveling the driveway, he would pile the snow to build forts and sledding hills for them. Randy was a jokester and his children can still tell some of the jokes they heard countless times throughout their childhood. He instilled in them his creative nature, musical giftedness, and artistic talents, including drawing realistic portraits. The kids always looked forward to the 4th of July because their Dad ensured there was a plethora of fireworks on hand that were fun and plenty dangerous.
Randy loved the great outdoors, which was reflected in the countless family camping trips over the years where he would teach his kids how to carve sticks and build things from what they could find on hand. He would tell them elaborate bedtime stories about Sammy the Squirrel, which often got the kids more riled up instead of helping them fall asleep. He could build just about anything, which led to a new deck being constructed or refinished on almost every house he owned over the years. All who met Randy knew he could talk to anyone and thoroughly enjoyed those conversations. Randy was passionate about his faith and volunteered with several groups at his Church, including championing the Pro-Life Cause and participating in the Knights of Columbus, where he served two terms as the Grand Knight.
As his kids got married and started having children of their own, his love only grew. He was so proud of each of his children and deeply loved every one of his grandchildren. It was another opportunity for his childlike nature to come out, and his face would light up as he would play with them, work on puzzles, get into snowball fights, and so much more. He celebrated nearly 50 years of marriage with his loving wife, and they were excited to move to Texas and meet their newest grandchild to be born just a few weeks after he passed.
Randy is preceded in death by his father, William Reeves Bartlett, his Mother, Margie Ann Mini Bartlett, and his brother, Frank Andrew Bartlett. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy; son Kevin and daughter-in-law, Area, and his grandchildren, Lanai and Jace; son Chris and daughter-in-law, Kendra, and his grandchildren, Philomena, Francesca, Faustina, Joseph, Benedict, and Stella; daughter Gwen and son-in-law, AJ, and his grandchild due in May 2025; sisters Andrea, Kandiss and brother-in-law Steve, and Tamara and sister-in-law Mary; in addition to countless loving friends.
