He always described his childhood years as the happiest; spending time with his grandmother, pet dogs and his pet chicken. As a young man he joined the army where he was stationed in Ft. Huachuca, Arizona as a photographer. Throughout his life he maintained his love of cameras and photography through his travels, his work in a photo lab and through the many awards he earned from local camera clubs. After his military service he continued his education in Colorado; completing a degree in chemistry and briefly attended medical school. He continued a lifetime dedicated to health and nutrition.
Neil settled in Colorado Springs and started his family here. He discovered a love for the outdoors and spent many summers with his family at the cabin he built in Leadville, Colorado. He loved jogging, hiking and walking, but above all else he made time for conversations with everyone wherever he would go.
Neil had a reputation for being the kindest, healthiest, most intelligent man we all knew. He once said he was able to show love to others because of the love he was shown. He enjoyed the simpler things in life, meeting new people, reading a good book, sharing a meal, watching a game of tennis, and listening to classical music.
Neil leaves behind an older brother, John (Linda) Ramsay; his only daughter, Lena Ramsay; granddaughter Jacqueline Allen; grandson, Jeremy Olson; great-grandchildren: Connor, Eliza, Addison and James Allen; nieces, Rebecca and Ann; and his nephew, Allan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jewel and George Ramsay; and his wife, Evelyn Ramsay.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. followed by a committal service with military honors on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, 80910.
