Myrtle Vanderwall Fergerson, beloved wife of the late Harry E. Fergerson, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend of many, passed away surrounded by love on August 8, 2018. She was the only child of the late John and Elizabeth Vanderwall born on July 3, 1920 in Paterson, New Jersey.
Myrtle grew up during the depression and worked several jobs, her favorite was working the night shift at the Erie Lackwanna Railroad station in Paterson. She also sewed parachutes during WWII.
Family and friends were extremely important in her life and she loved to travel and have adventures. She and Harry enjoyed several cruises, even to Bermuda during the Bermuda Triangle scare! She drove with a friend from New Jersey to Colorado to visit friends and family. Her first jump from an airplane was at 75 years old. She parasailed, went on a hot air balloon ride and even rode in a NASCAR car!
Myrtle leaves behind many to cherish her memory and times spent together: daughter Diane Norman and her husband Bruce; daughter Carol Sclafani and her husband Joe; grandchildren: Michael, Beth, Jim, Kelly, and William and great grandchildren: Nicholas, Tina, Matthew, Annie, Heather, CJ, Alex, Gabriel, Kerry Michael Patrick, Chrissy and Jimmy as well as many loved ones and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be a 1pm at First Presbyterian Church at 219 E Bijou Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
