Dee was a Colorado native. She was number 3 of 5 children. Born to Walter and Bernice Gillette. She graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1951. She was a devoted wife to Kermit Berg, the love of her life.
Dee was a proud member of 2 Red Hat chapters, and a longtime member of Tops. In her younger years she was involved in PTA and was the manager of her daughter’s soft ball teams for many years. As a child she was a gifted piano player and played the piano at the Fine Arts Center a few times. Dee enjoyed visiting with family and friends, planting flowers in the spring, shopping and doing laundry. She looked forward to the 1st Thursday of every month when she met with her friends to get their toes done, followed by going out to lunch.
Dee is survived by, her children, Mary Ayers, Nicki Fontecchio, Dannetta and (Anthony) Aguilera, Ross and (Shawna) Fontecchio, Keith and (Teresa) Berg, Ken Berg, Kaylene and (Mike) McCardle, Kraig Berg, Kathleen Berg, as well as 27 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Kermit Berg, her daughters Lisa Gorman, Patsy Fontecchio, Kimberly Berg, and her grandson Jason Duden.
A Memorial Service for Dee will be held Monday, October 30, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. A reception is to follow. We would appreciate it if all her friends can attend her celebration of life.
