Mary Elizabeth Scheele died March 26, 2011 at Sunny Vista Nursing Home. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on November 19, 1915 to Bridgett and John Galvin, she was the eldest of five children. She was preceded in death by her brother John and two sisters, Peg and Theresa. Her sister, Marilyn Barro, is alive and well in California working briefly in a “Rosie the Riveter” role during the Second World War. She met married Frank Scheele and was the devoted mother of four girls, Fran Palmer, Harriet Scheele, Sandra Freeman and Susan Scheele of Colorado Springs. She was the proud grandmother of Jennifer Freeman who became the greatest blessing of her final years.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001. Mrs. Scheele’s final years were made more pleasant and cheerful under the wonderful and warm care of the extended family at the Sunny Vista Care Center. The family is eternally grateful for their support with thanks to Dr. Robert Winans for his medical care over the past 14 years which allowed for many opportunities to enjoy the blessings of family and friends.
A private burial is planned at Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, Friday, April 1, 2011 from 5:00 -7:00 p.m.
At the givers discretion, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Sunny Vista Nursing Home. A separate Memorial service will be arranged with Sunny Vista at a later time.
