Mark, the son of Valgene and Jean Hansen, was born on February 25,1960 in Cedar Falls, IA. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1978. He then attended Hawkeye Tech to study Electrical Engineering Technology. Upon graduating in 1980, he moved to Mountain View, CA to work for General Dynamics. While living there, a friend introduced him to his future wife, Jan Sampson. She worked for the same company and lived in the same apartment complex. They were married on December 10, 1988 in Santa Clara, CA. On December 14, 2000, Mark transferred to the Colorado Springs, CO branch of General Dynamics, where he worked for twenty more years for a total of forty years with the company. He was also blessed with two beloved children, Sarah and Luke.
Mark is survived by his wife: Jan Hansen of Colorado Springs, CO, daughter: Sarah Hansen of Denver, CO, son: Luke (Megan) Hansen of Salt Lake City, UT, parents: Valgene and Jean Hansen of Kanawha, IA, siblings: Steven (Karen) Hansen of Ft. Collins, CO; Lorie (Mike) Sampson of Kanawha, IA; Paul (Beth) Hansen of Cedar Falls, IA; Susan (Travis) Dean of Cedar Falls, IA and Carol (Marty) Cornelius of Cedar Falls, IA, siblings-in-love: Teresa Scott of Colorado Springs, CO; Jody (Lori) Sampson of Minot, ND; Jean Resch (Jan’s twin) of Colorado Springs, CO and Leonard (Sheina) Eder of Colorado Springs, CO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his grandparents, an uncle and Jan’s parents, Miner Sampson and Corinne Genereau.
An open house to share memories will be held at the family residence in Colorado Springs, CO on February 22, 2020 starting at 11 am. The date for a full funeral service in Kanawha, IA is still pending. The family prefers potted plants to flowers, as they can be kept in his memory.
