Marilynn Florence Foelske M.D., passed away on January 13, 2016 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born on May 3, 1948 in Waverly, Iowa. She is the second child, and first daughter, of Elmer and Florence (Meyerhoff) Foelske.
Marilynn earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Texas; pursued graduate studies from Northwestern University; and received her Doctor of Medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine. After her residency at the University of South Dakota School of Medicine, she moved to the Arkansas Valley of Colorado and ultimately started her own practice, Southeast Regional Clinic. There she cared for many patients of the community. Marilynn’s patients were an extension of her family, and when a patient couldn’t make it to the clinic, she would make house calls.
Marilynn’s three beautiful children were her world. She was an advocate of having her children participate in many activities. Whether it was taking her children to piano lessons, museums, symphony concerts, swim team, tennis practice, horseback riding and summer camps; she did so effortlessly, while being a full-time physician.
She enjoyed walking at sunset, as her mother, Florence did, appreciating nature’s beauty.
Marilynn is survived by daughter, Jennifer Caldwell and her spouse Bill Smith; son, Brad Caldwell; daughter, Megan Caldwell; former spouse, Wayne Caldwell; two brothers and their spouses, Ken and Kay Foelske and Loren and Cathy Foelske; as well as nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will take place Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, 219 East Bijou Street, Colorado Springs. Burial will take place in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly, Iowa.
