Marilyn Patrice Russo was born January 3, 1945 in West Springfield, MA to Thomas and Emily McNamara. She passed away on March 16, 2019 after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. She was 74 and a Colorado Springs resident for nearly 40 years. She was a beloved wife and found peace knowing that she would join her husband of over 45 years, Robert (Bob), once her time here was over. She was also an adored mother and grandma and will be missed by her daughter Karin and her son Ted and will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Yale, Mabon, and Patience Russo-Way and Deven, Alison, Logan and Evelyn Russo.
Marilyn earned her Bachelors Degree in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts and continued on to earn two Masters Degrees later in life. She started off in the nursing field then later discovered a love of teaching and went on to teach nursing and was the director of the CNA program at Pikes Peak Community College for over 25 years. She was Faculty Member of the Year for the college in 2010. She also loved to travel and was fortunate to travel all over the world with her husband and children.
Visitation will take place Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church, 2650 Parish Way, Colorado Springs.
