JUDITH ANN FERGUSON (O'NEAL) December 6, 1949 - April 17, 2017 The Heavens are a little brighter tonight. Another star has joined the universe. Shine bright Judy so we all know you're ok. You are so incredibly missed. Judy passed away peacefully after a short stay at Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs. She lived a full and rewarding life, dedicated to her work and loved by her friends and family. Born in Madison, Wisconsin to James H. and Ethel M. O'Neal, she grew up in Oregon, Wisconsin, graduating from Oregon High School with the class of 1968. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. Following a clinical internship in Madison, she moved to Burlington, Wisconsin to begin her career in laboratory medicine. Judy met her future husband in college, and was married to James L. Ferguson in Plymouth, Wisconsin in 1974. In 1988 they moved to Colorado Springs where both continued their careers as microbiologists. Judy retired from Penrose-St Francis Hospital in January 2015. She was an avid reader of mysteries and had a passion for nature and animals, especially her cats. She loved the outdoors watching wildlife and appreciating nature’s beauty. Her favorite places to visit were the mountains, zoos, and Rocky Mountain National Park. In recent years Judy became enthusiastic about cruising, sailing on several trips to the Caribbean and Alaska. Judy is survived by her brother James K. O'Neal and her husband James L. Ferguson. She was blessed with many close friends who were like family to her. A Celebration of Life at Mountain View Mortuary is scheduled for Thursday, June 8th, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. Those wishing to honor Judy's life may contribute to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
