Joseph John Clement, age 79, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away June 30th, 2024, at home in the care of his family. Joe is survived by his three sons, Joseph J. Clement II, Anthony Clement (Brooke), Nicholas Clement (Sara) and his six grandchildren; Trace, Kennedy, Thomas, Emilia, Samuel and Hudson. Joe is also survived by his only sister Arlene Larry, sister’s-in-law Taffy Arey and Tracey Littlepage, nephews Mark Larry, Christopher Larry, Michael Larry, Thomas Arey, John Littlepage, Jacob Littlepage and niece, Tally Schieber.
Joe was born in Jamestown, New York on February 11th,1945 and spent his early childhood on his family’s grape and dairy farm in Westfield NY. At the age of nine Joe and his family moved to the Buffalo, NY area where he attended North Tonawanda High School and graduated in 1963. Following High School, Joe attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL where he ran track and was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He graduated in 1968 with a Bachelors in Education followed by a Masters from Bradley University.
Shortly after graduation in 1971, Joe went on a Spring Break trip to Fort Lauderdale, FL where he met the love of his life, Tana. After a whirlwind courtship of 4 months Joe and Tana married on August 14th, 1971 and settled in Peoria, Illinois, where Joe began work as a high school teacher, coach and eventually in education administration as Dean of Boys at Richwoods High School.
In 1980 Joe took a leap of faith by beginning a new career as an Associate Broker and then eventually Broker Owner of RE/MAX Realtors in downtown Peoria. This career change would change the course of his life, his family’s life and that of so many people he would encounter over the next nearly 50 years he was in the real estate business. In 1986 he took yet another leap and relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado with Tana and their three boys and purchased
a RE/MAX Franchise, RE/MAX Properties, Inc., which would become his greatest professional passion and joy as he built the business, becoming one of the most trailblazing and visionary Broker Owners in the RE/MAX Network. Joe was well known for his characteristic perseverance, optimism, and for always offering his own experience through teaching and coaching to help other broker owners and agents. Joe was widely connected to the RE/MAX Network, making so many life-long friends with his colleagues nationwide and with his agents and clients locally. He had an endless passion for helping others succeed in the business, as well as helping his many clients find the perfect home in a city that he deeply loved. He was tireless and Joe loved everything about working in the real estate industry, most notably the relationships he built over his many years.
As passionate as Joe was about his career in real estate he was even more so about his family. Joe took immense pride in his three sons, all of whom have followed in his footsteps; Joey practicing real estate for 20 years in California, Tony who has worked alongside Joe in Colorado Springs as Co-Broker Owner of RE/MAX Properties, Inc. and more recently his youngest son Nicholas working along-side him as his sales partner. He wanted nothing more than to share his passion for the industry with his sons and Joe beamed about his boys and six grandchildren. There was no greater joy to an Italian family man and the void he has left feels vast to his family who will miss him dearly.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife Tana, his parents Joseph & Laura Clement, his brother-in-law John Larry and a number of dear friends and extended family for which we are grateful he is reunited.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at the Lloyd Shaw Auditorium, Cheyenne Mountain High School 1200 Cresta Rd., Colorado Springs, CO 80906, Saturday July 13th at 10:00am with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that anyone inclined to make donations to please donate in Joe’s name to Children’s Miracle Network or The Tradition of Excellence Foundation.
