John Wilson Mitchell

John was born December 13, 1935 in Morrison, Illinois to Lois and Donald Mitchell.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force serving as an air patrolman for eight years when he was honorably discharged.

John worked at Memorial Hospital for over 20 years.

After retiring John joined the senior Olympics in 2001, where he medaled for swimming. He earned one gold, one silver and one bronze and received many more.

John was devout Christian, as well as an active member and servant of Mountain View Church of Christ.

John loved the great outdoors, mall walking, Chicago Cubs, his football teams, talking smack on the Rockies, and spoiling his grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Donald, his sister Jane, two brother in laws and a nephew. He is survived by his wife Linda, children Marley (Brian) and Whit (Sherri). Grandchildren BriAnn (D), Lauren (Gunnar), Mitchell (Willow), Cole (Azu), and Nolan; and six great-grandchildren, sister Martha, nieces and nephews.

Visitation, Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 3:00pm-7:00pm at Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Home, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, CO, 80910.

Funeral service, Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Mountain View Church of Christ, 1080 E La Salle Street, Colorado Springs, CO, 80907.

Burial to follow at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery.
