John E. Hurt

John is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Margaret (Anderson) Hurt. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law Cheryl & Carey Dowell, grandchildren Ryan & Christie Guido, Crystal Guido, daughter-in-law Robin (Hurt) Birringer & husband Joe, granddaughters Allie (Hurt) Birringer and Terra (Hurt) Birringer and great-grandson Caden Guido.

He is also survived by his brother-in-law Jerry Anderson and wife Rebecca, sisters, Luellen Porter, Caronee Boyd, Wynell (Clark) Howell, Katherine (Roy) Smith and Linda (Horace) Kennedy as well as many nieces and nephews.

John was proceeded in death by his son, Terry Hurt. Also by his sisters and brothers, Inez Whittaker, William Hurt, Lois Taylor and Winfred Hurt.

As business owners in Colorado Springs John and Margaret worked together for 40 years. They owned Aloha Florist and a landscaping/garden center business.

John was a dedicated family man who dearly loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them. He was an avid bowler and golfer. Throughout his life John belonged to the Knob Hill Lions Club, BPO Elks 309 and Pikes Peak Sertoma.

Services will be held at Memorial Gardens Chapel on Wednesday January 9, 2013 at 11:00 am. The burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with reception and light buffet to follow in the Memorial Gardens Chapel.
