Alan was born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He grew up there and attended Monsignor Bonner High School. He joined the Navy at 17, spending most of his enlistment in Japan where he worked in Electronic Warfare. He used the skills he learned in the Navy to advance his career in the business world, being the youngest president of the Montgomery County Data Processing Association . He worked for several large companies as a consultant , and handled the year 2000 preparation for a Defense Contractor while working in 17 different countries.
Alan was active in Boys and Girls Club while living in Texas, and coordinated bringing 154 children from Northern Ireland with the Children’s Committee 10 Project. Alan also volunteered at Penrose Hospital, and was often a Marshall at golf tournaments at the Broadmoor.
Alan is known for his stories, to which his friends will attest. He was lucky to still maintain friendships with friends from kindergarten and elementary school, and treasured all his friends, nieces and nephews, and especially his four grandsons. Alan and Pat would have been married for 60 years on June 27th.
Alan is survived by his wife, Patricia Mattson Forrester, daughters and son in law, Karen Forrester, and Kristi Ecklund (Matthew) and Grandsons, Bailey, Billy, Easton and Keagan Ecklund.
