Joanie Marie VerDuft, born November 29, 1941 to Donald and Marjorie Barnhart, passed away on April 23, 2013.
Joanie graduated from Excelsior High School in Cerritos, California in 1960 and went on to obtain her Cosmetology license. She loved to sing and engage other people in lively discussions. She met Jerry VerDuft in mid-1975 and they were married in December of that year. After supporting her husband in his Air Force career and her Cosmetology activities, they decided to call Colorado Springs their home. She was involved in her previous church’s AWANA children’s program and became the Leader of the Sparkies group.
Joanie is preceeded in death by her parents and survived by her husband, sister Sandy Hatch, brothers Donald and Rick Barnhart, children Lorin Barnhart, Randy Collins, Faith Collins; and step-children Jeff VerDuft and Debbie VerDuft.
Joanie’s viewing and visitor fellowship is from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive in Colorado Springs; followed by a Memorial Service at Woodmen Road Freewill Baptist Church,7465 Horseshoe Road, Colorado Springs 80923. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery for immediate family only.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joanie’s name to the church, American Diabetes Association, or the American Cancer Society.
