Jennifer Ann Bryer

Jennifer Ann Bryer (nee Blanchard), a beloved wife, devoted mother, loving daughter, caring sister and devout follower of Jesus Christ, left this earthly realm to be with her Lord on September 12, 2023. She passed away peacefully in Colorado, surrounded by her family, at the age of 57.

Jennifer's journey began in Dearborn Michigan where she was born on May 21, 1966. From there her family moved to the city of Glen Ellyn in the suburbs of Chicago where she spent her formative years, embracing the Midwestern values of kindness, hard work, and strong faith. These principles would become the cornerstone of her life. Jennifer attended Glenbard West High School and then from there went on to attend Northern Illinois University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Jennifer married the love of her life, Tim Bryer soon after she graduated from Northern Illinois University. They resided in Illinois for a short time where they had their first two children (Benjamin and Sarah) before making a move to the upper peninsula Michigan in 1997. Jennifer and Tim’s love and commitment to each other would span 31 years. Their union was a testament to the enduring power of love and partnership.

Jennifer and Tim’s first residence in Michigan was in a little red house outside of Brimley about 2 and half miles down a gravel road. Their third child, David was born while they lived there. She created many wonderful and fond memories from long walks in the woods, new puppies and teaching her kids how to ride bikes. From the red house Jennifer and her family moved closer to Brimley to a house on 10 acres that they had built for them. At this wonderful house friendships were deepened, and more memories were made. Jennifer always made everyone that walked into her home feel welcome. Jennifer created a home that took in anyone that needed a warm meal, safety and love. Friends and family loved to come and visit. Jennifer created a place that holds memories for many people of movies, popcorn, firepit gatherings, celebrations and laughter.

In 2014, Jennifer and Tim visited Tim’s brother and his wife (Nate & Laura Bryer) in Colorado Springs. During their short time there they fell in love with the city and state and made a proclamation that they would make the move from Michigan to the century state. They made good on their commitment and started their new life in Colorado in September 2015.

Jennifer was an avid ‘old movie’ buff. She could rattle off names and stats of just about every actor and movie from the 40s, 50s and 60s. She thoroughly enjoyed the shows that were made during an era that spoke to her.

Jennifer not only gave to her family and members of her church, but to the many kids she interacted with during the years she worked as a substitute teacher. She subbed in many different schools starting in Brimley, Michigan and continued at various schools in Colorado Springs after she moved there from Michigan. Students loved Jennifer’s easy going demeaner and considered it a good day when they had her as a replacement for their normal teacher.

Jennifer was a very giving person. She had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel loved and valued. She had a fantastic gift giving talent. She knew exactly the types of simple yet heartfelt gifts that would bring immediate smiles to the recipient. Her radiant smile and kind words brightened the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Jennifer's compassionate heart and selflessness were a beacon of hope and inspiration to those who crossed her path.

Jennifer was a fervent believer in the teachings of Jesus Christ. Her life was a living testament to her unwavering faith, and she found immense comfort and purpose in her relationship with God.

Jennifer had a wonderful sense of joy and always sought the goodness in others. Jennifer had an uncomplicated way of seeing people. She saw the best in everyone. She was a loyal friend and a diligent letter writer. She was ever faithful in sending everyone she cared about notes and cards on special events like birthdays and anniversaries. Her heartfelt messages she wrote to people were always warm and real. Jennifer had a beautiful smile that would light up a room. She loved to laugh, and she found humor in the silly and mundane things that others might ignore.

Jennifer is survived by her husband Timothy and her three children, Benjamin Bryer (Bopha), Sarah Gruenberg (Luke) and David Bryer. Her father and mother (Tom and Genevieve Blanchard), her brothers (Tom and Mo Blanchard, Greg and Carrie Blanchard). She poured her heart and soul into raising her children, instilling in them the same values of faith, compassion, and integrity that she held dear. Her children were her greatest joy and legacy, and she leaves behind a lasting impression on their lives.

A graveside service for Jennifer will be held Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM, at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Jennifer’s honor to offset the costs of the funeral/memorial service. Jennifer Bryer's radiant spirit will continue to shine brightly in our hearts, reminding us of the power of love, faith, and compassion. May she rest in eternal peace with her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ.
