Gladys Kennedy, lifelong Colorado Springs resident, passed away May 22, 2016. She was born January 9, 1922, in Manitou, Oklahoma, to Dennis and Martha Fryer. She was the youngest with five brothers and five sisters. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Kennedy and is survived by her daughter Karen Winstead (Bert) of Lakewood, Colorado, and son Bob Kennedy (Sandy Andrews) of Pueblo, Colorado, two grandchildren Cynde Kelley (Steve) of Vancouver, Washington, and Steve Kennedy (Trina) of Colorado Springs, and three great grandchildren (Rachel, Kyle, and Axel).
Gladys began her career as a switchboard operator for Mountain Bell. She later joined U.S. Civil Service and worked at Ent Air Force Base, NORAD, and ARADCOM. Gladys was an active member of many organizations over the years: Elks Lodge #309, VFW Pikes Peak Post #4051; Fraternal Order of Eagles #143; Red Hat Society; and Pikes Peak Toastmistress Club. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Colorado Springs.
A Visitation will be held at Swan-Law Funeral Home at 501 N. Cascade Ave. Colorado Springs, on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Pikes Peak Hospice, 1550 Tenderfoot Hill Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80906
