Georgia Belle Smith, 83, longtime resident of Woodland Park, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 17, 2012. Georgia was born and raised in Hutchinson, Kansas and moved to Colorado Springs in 1949 and to Woodland Park in 1964. She was an avid birdwatcher, gardener and gifted seamstress. She generously shared the flowers she grew with many a friend. Many of these perennials still bloom each spring providing an annual reminder of her friendship. Georgia was a sewing instructor for the Woodland Park 4H group for many years. Her love of nature and compassion for animals will always be remembered.
She is survived by her four children Michael Varrone, Augie (Aimee) DeJoy, Bridget (Mark) Fleecs, Laurie Smith and six grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Advantage Chapel of Memories, 829 South Hancock, Colorado Springs.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, 610 Abbott Lane, Colorado Springs, CO 80905 or a charity of the giver’s choice.
