Today we lay to rest, Fred J. Pompeo. According to Fred, “There were two grand events that shaped my life: Acceptance of Jesus as my personal Savior and my marriage to my beautiful wife, Oralee, my kindred spirit.”
Fred was a remarkable man. He received Master Mason Degree at Spring Lodge #45 in Springer, NM in 1959. He also served as Worshipful Master of Springer Lodge in 1966 and went on to receive Master of the Royal Secret of the 32 Degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite in 1970. In his passing, Fred was a member of Union Lodge #4 Masonic Lodge in Wagon Mound, NM.
Fred was a long time educator who influenced many lives as a teacher, principal, and superintendent. He was inducted into New Mexico Activities Association Hall of Fame in 1987.
In 2003, Fred was ordained a Deacon at the First Southern Baptist Church. This was an honor he held high as his commitment to Jesus Christ was unwavering.
Fred knew the secret of how to live a successful life… obey the Golden Rule, treat others the way you want to be treated. He gave of himself and was always willing to devote time, energy, guidance, and prayer to others. Fred will be dearly missed as he was so many things to so many people including husband, dad, grandpa, loyal friend, educator, and master storyteller.
He has left many to celebrate his life including his daughter, Linda and spouse Stan Odle, his brothers Wayne and James “Skeezix” Pompeo, his sister Donna Sue Garcia, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
