Frances Mae Harris

Frances was born October 12, 1917, in Limon, CO to Francis M. and Bessie M. (McBurney) Thorp. She was the oldest daughter of twelve children. She grew up in Limon, where she met Fred L. Harris. Thery were married on January 1, 1937. He preceded her in death in 1987. She was preceded in death by her parents and all but one sibling,

Fred and Frances moved to Breckenridge, CO in 1943, where she was Clerk of the District Court for over 20 years. Upon retiring in 1980, they moved to Colorado Springs. Over the years, they enjoyed bowling on several leagues and traveled to many locations for tournaments.

Frances enjoyed baking and spoiled her families with delicious goodies every holiday. She also enjoyed reading and needlepunch.

Frances is survived by one sister, Geraldine Schumacher of Michigan, and two children, Alice Marie and Robert Meyers of Ellinwood, KS, and Russell and Julie Harris of Ventura, CA. She had 6 grandchildren, Lori Clymer of Grand Junction, CO, Cindy Bell of Ellinwood, KS, John Meyers of Erie, CO, Candace Steven of Ventura, CA, Bill Meyers of Brighton, CO, and Sherry Davis, of Oxnard, CA, 14 great grandchildren, and four great, great grandchildren, and close friend and neighbor, Isabelle.

Services will be held on Sept. 16, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Swan-Law Funeral Home, in Colorado Springs.
