Eugenia "Jeanie" Robinson Ahrens, born on July 8th, 1944, in Knoxville, Tennessee, left this world unexpectedly after a brief illness on February 21st, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
Jeanie's passing follows closely the loss of her beloved husband, Bill Ahrens, who preceded her in death on January 25th, 2024. Together, Jeanie and Bill shared 52 years of marriage, marked by love, devotion, and mutual support.
Jeanie leaves behind a legacy of love through her five sons and their families: Will, Christy, Pierce and Hayden; Jeremiah, Karen, Georgia, Hadley, Scarlett, and MaKinzie; Hogan, Dara, Samson, Cecilia, and Conner; Jacob, Daniela, and Makayla; and Nathaniel. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless dear friends.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Jeanie earned her Bachelor's degree in education and went on to volunteer her time and talents to organizations such as The American Red Cross and the Briceville Public Library. Her commitment to community was evident in her involvement with St. Mary's High School, The Boy Scouts of America, and St. Peter's Catholic Church. Her many contributions, which included being a published author whose proceeds benefited local charities, left an indelible mark on her community.
Jeanie approached life with kindness, grace, and a sense of duty, relishing her identity as Mom, Grandma and friend. Her passion for genealogy and travel earned her the title of the "keeper of stories," as she would happily share memories with any who would listen. Her kind heart, matter-of-fact delivery, and generous soul will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Jeanie maintained her willingness to serve others, even in death, as she generously donated parts of her body to the Donor Alliance.
Jeanie's departure leaves a void in the lives of many, but her legacy of love and compassion will continue to shine brightly, guiding and comforting those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Rest in peace, dear Jeanie. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on in the lives you've touched forevermore.
Jeanie's funeral will be held at St. Peters Catholic Church in Monument, CO on Friday June 7th at 10:00am. Reception to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Jeanie's honor.
