Ernest Joseph Perrone Jr., beloved father and grandfather passed away on December 10, 2021, age 89, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Camden, New Jersey on April 4, 1932, the fifth of seven children born to the late Ernest and Mary Perrone.
Ernie joined the Airforce in 1950, serving his country during the Korean War. He was an accomplished ballroom dancer and appeared on the popular Arthur Murray television program in the 1950s. He moved out to Colorado in 1983 and opened Yesterday’s Saloon. He later retired from the business and remained in Colorado Springs ever since.
He leaves behind his long-time companion Erma Thompson; loving children, James, Ernest (Chip), Scott, Jacqueline, Christopher, and Jennifer; precious grandchildren, Taylor, Evan, Christina, Grace, Rachel, Audrie, Samantha, Liam, and Jaime; siblings, Jeanne Micciche and Eileen Perrone; sister-in-law Irene Perrone, as well as a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends. Ernie was predeceased by siblings Phillip Perrone, Eve Staub, Anthony Perrone, and Marie Kaze.
Visitation for Ernie will be held Friday, January 7, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will occur Friday, January 7, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925.
