Elaine was born early in the morning, November 30, 1936, to Vernon William Wallace and Clara Louise Orton Wallace. She was accomplished in many things, namely sewing, cooking, home decorating and business ownership.
From the age of four, she hand-sewed-dresses for her dolls. As she aged, she made her own clothes, then made draperies for the motel rooms and later clothing for her own children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Elaine’s heart was in hospitality. She enjoyed entertaining. We believe that is what made her such a wonderful motel owner. She saw it as her privilege to welcome and provide a good night’s rest for all the motel guests.
Later in life when most people retired, Elaine worked as a fund raiser for Muscular Dystrophy. She used her talents and pleasant personality to encourage others to give generously to a worthy cause. We are proud of our mother’s efforts to support this charity.
Elaine is survived by her sister, Loraine (Jerry) Browning, her daughters, Carmen (Paul) Brandenstein and Kirsten Eichner. Elaine has five grandchildren, Michael (Katie) Eichner, Sarah (Caleb) Nail, Philip Brandenstein, Ellen (Cameron) Dillavou and Lauren Brandenstein. Elaine is also blessed with eleven great grandchildren. James, Emmett, Bailey and Evelyn Dillavou, Brynn and Riley Nail, David Eichner, Peregrinn, Ophelia, Julian and Abigail Brandenstein.
In her high school graduation paper, Elaine wrote “we cannot look into the future, we can only plan to the best of our ability and the rest is in the hands of God.
After all these years, we truly believe that this sentiment holds true of our mother, Elaine.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MtViewMortuary.com for the Johnson family.
