2 Corinthians 5:6-8 (ESV) "So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord."
Dorothy Macel Hays, beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on May 17, 2018 in Illinois. She was born in Applefarm, Calhoun County, West Virginia on January 12, 1922. She lived in West Virginia for 31 years, Ohio for 35 years, Colorado Springs, Colorado for 30 years and in East Dundee, Ill for 4 years.
She enjoyed all types of needle work, especially quilting and made each of her children and grandchildren a quilt. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. Her family was extremely important to her and she loved being with them as much as possible. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years in Elyria, Ohio.
She was preceded in death in 2001 by her beloved husband of 61 years, Perry Hays. Also preceding her in death are two sisters and one brother. She leaves behind her loving children, Brian (Marguerite) Hays of East Dundee, Illinois; Steven (Jane) Hays of Aubrey, Texas; Kathi (George) Brown of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two brothers and one sister; seven grandchildren, seventeen great grand children and 3 great, great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday, June 8, 2018 at 3:00 PM - Springs Lighthouse Church, 4777 North Academy Boulevard. A private burial will take place at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Colorado Springs.
