Delores Alluria (McCorvey) Williams was born May 15, 1932, to Georgia (Snowball) and Letcher McCorvey in Pensacola, Florida and went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by her loving family at her ranch in Peyton, CO on March 3, 2023.
With her husband, SMSgt Chester Williams and their daughters, Delores traveled the world until he retired in Colorado Springs, CO. Dearest to her heart was her family. She had five daughters. Patricia Tetterton, Delores Mullins, Christina Williams, Yvette Williams, Jaqueline Williams, and one son-in-law Onroe Tetterton. She was called a unique name by each of her seven "grands" (Grandchildren), Denyce Juopperi, Doreen Sims, Donovan Sims, Lance Mullins, Marquez Mullins, Alluria Smith, and James Williams, but was "GG" to her ten "great grands" (Great Grandchildren) and "GGG" to her great great grandson. Additionally, Delores was "Auntie Lady", as well as honorary mother and grandmother to many throughout the United States.
Delores was a devout Catholic who actively served in parishes wherever she lived. She was on several committees while a member of Our Lady of the Pines and was an active participant at Holy Apostles Catholic Church. Delores was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Council for Black Catholics.
Delores developed many life-long friendships when she worked as a telephone operator and manager at Mountain Bell Telephone, later AT&T . More than 30 years after she retired, they would still meet for lunch, camaraderie, and laughter.
Delores was an avid reader, often reading five or more books a week, and was a whiz at math. She loved cooking and baking for her family and friends, traveling, sending greeting cards, watching sports, playing dominoes and card games, and caring for her five llamas.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chester, brothers Letcher "Mack" McCorvey, and James McCorvey, longtime companion James Gilbert, and great grandson Tosh Mullins.
Delores will be forever remembered for her unwavering faith, strength of character, quick wit, generous heart, devotion to family, and enduring optimism even in the midst of life's storms. She is greatly missed by those who know her, but we are blessed to know she is at peace.
