Daniel was born on February 20, 1949 in Monte Vista, CO to Eli Daniel and Mary Dora (Quintana) Romero who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his Brother, Juan (Mary) Romero, and in-laws Alfred and Amelia (Abachiche) Aldaz, and brothers-in law Leonard and Carl Aldaz.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Frieda, son Patrick Romero-Aldaz, daughters Christi Padilla, and Amber Cavazos (Francisco). Daniel was grandfather to five Grandchildren, Xavier, Celina (Brandon), Neveah, Analeigh, and Mya Rose and Great-Grandfather to Sirius, Nicholle, and was looking forward to welcoming a third in October. He is also survived by brothers, Bill (Henrietta) and Edward (Lucinda) and sisters Kathy Himes (Jay), and Laurie Wallace. He also carried a special place in his heart for Lisa Padilla, Rick Padilla, and their respective families; many nieces, nephews and friends he considered family. Dan is also missed by his beloved puppies, Monty and Trigger for whom he cared very much.
A Vietnam veteran, Daniel served in the United States Army and upon his honorable discharge at the completion of service began a career in civil service at the United States Airforce Academy where he retired after 23 years. Daniel loved Jazz music, dancing, and hanging out with friends and family.
Daniel will be missed greatly by all who knew him. The family would like to extend most sincere appreciation to all his doctors, nurses, and caretakers, the Veterans Administration and all who helped him with his disabilities and when he was ill.
