She was 80 years old and celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary last June 29th. She had a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration. Colleen worked as an accountant and business manager most of her career and eventually opened her own accounting and consulting firm before retiring at age 76. Colleen was also very active volunteering over the years to include; Housing for low income families, El Paso County Department of social services as a foster parent, Treasurer for Beth Haven, providing residential services for the mentally ill and Tri-Lakes Advocacy Partnership.
Colleen began her life in Pine City, MN. The family eventually moved to Alliance Nebraska and then Casper Wyoming.
She grew up in an era with no indoor plumbing and a one room school house. At an early age she had to work hard to help support her family. School, books and learning became her passion and instilled in her the drive to be a lifelong learner.
Colleen Graduated from High School in 1956 in Casper Wyoming.
She loved the blue skies of Colorado, Columbines, Larkspur, Indian Paint Brush, Gladiolas and Dandelions.
With her family she loved to go camping, 4 wheeling, snow skiing, water skiing and boating.
She leaves behind a loving family and many cherished friends. Her husband Dave, 2 daughters, Kelly and Kathy, 2 sisters Vivian and Patricia, 1 brother Patrick, 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, with one on the way, 1 dog Buddy, 9 Chickens, and 5 Ducks.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, January 26th, 2:00pm at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs.
