Charles Garcia

Charles M. Garcia was called to be with God on June 26, 2023. He was the last surviving sibling of 9; preceded in death by Christoval Garcia, Enrique Garcia, Gilbert Garcia, Leonard Garcia, Isabell Miranda, Anita Jimenez, Bertha Castillo and Josephine Tellez.

Charles joined the US Army at the age of 17 so he could help to provide for his family. He was deployed to Maisson Forte, France where he met his first wife, Maria Catalfamo. They married November 5th, 1955.

His Army career spanned 21 years during which he was stationed at various domestic bases, as well as Germany and Korea. He retired from the Army in 1967 ; having been honored with several awards for distinguished performance. He subsequently served in a civil service role until 1984.

Charles and Maria resided in Colorado Springs, where they raised their family; and in 1993, his wife Maria passed away. He remarried Freda Owens, staying married until her passing in 2018.

Charles enjoyed bowling, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Charles is survived by his four children, Christopher Garcia of Colorado Springs, Charles Garcia of Augusta KS, Josie Leone of Austin, TX and Michael Garcia of Colorado Springs.

Grandchildren: Mario Garcia, Tony Garcia, Amanda Garcia (Park), Laura Garcia, Hanna Garcia (Schreiver), Steven Garcia; Tamara Bozich, Kati Edmondson, Daniel Bozich and Elijah Garcia.

Great Grandchildren: Christopher's Grandchildren: Gabriella Garcia, Christian Garcia, Ivy Garcia; Josie's Grandchildren:Annabelle Bozich, Kameron Edmondson, Kenzie Edmondson; Charles Grandchildren: Dakotah Garcia, Hughston Garcia, Natalie Park, Asher Park(?), Juniper Annalee, Charleston Cassell, Coco and Jax.

He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles was a very loving and kind man and anyone who met him instantly liked him. He was a great man in all senses of the word. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
