Born in Danville, IL, she was the younger of two children born to the late James Burr Llewellyn, Jr., and the late Hilda Llewellyn Martin; and later, was blessed to have called the late Vincent Dewitt Martin a father. She grew up in Danville, attended Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, WI, and graduated from the University of New Mexico, where she earned a degree in Special Education.
Cathy resided in Colorado Springs since the early 1970s. In 1986, she and her husband, through fortitude and hard work, co-founded Ryan Glass, Inc.; where she proudly served as the company’s President.
Cathy – referred to as "Pet" by her late Grandmother, Bulah Ferris Livengood, that she so admired – was an avid swimmer and adored spending time with her childhood friend Nancy Noakes (Davis); a relationship that continued up until her passing. Upon marriage, Cathy became a loyal, avid fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
The care of her family was her true passion in life. As a talented, capable person who had many achievements in life, being referred to as “Nana” was her most cherished accomplishment.
She was the beloved wife of William Morrissey Ryan for 44 years; the devoted mother of Michael Llewellyn Ryan and his wife, Jooyi, and Brock Vincent Ryan and his wife, Corre; the dear sister of the late Phillip Michael Llewellyn; Patricia Burns and her husband, Gerald; Edward Ryan and his wife, Jo Ann; Denise Lenihan; and, the late James Ryan, and his wife Louisa; and, the loving grandmother of Brady, Shea, and Noah. Additionally, she dearly loved her numerous nieces and nephews along with their children; her dear friends to include Sarah Keeker Wyckoff, Dr. Phyllis V. Clarke, and Diana Parker-Martinez; and, the tremendous employees at Ryan Glass.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Mesa House, 420 Mesa Drive, Colorado Springs, CO, 80905; a charity committed to helping those who struggle with homelessness.
