Carolyn May McDole

Carolyn May McDole, age 83, of Colorado Springs, Colorado went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 24, 2023 after a brief illness and injury. She was the daughter of Gladys G. Wolfe and Kirk M. Jones.

Carolyn was born in Carrollton, Mississippi and moved to Lawton, Oklahoma in her teens. She graduated from Lawton High School May 22, 1958 and met her husband, from there she moved to Cleveland, Tennessee and raised her daughters (Tracey and Paula). Carolyn attended University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and graduated with her Bachelor’s of Science, Magna Cum Laude. Carolyn went on to work for Jim Morris at Cleveland State Community College. She also worked with Norma Davis and Karen Gibson at the community college. Carolyn left the college and started her career with Junior Achievement. She was awarded several summit awards for her work in the national headquarters as a National Regional Vice President, National Director of applied economics and as a President of JA of San Antonio and President of Kansas City, Kansas. Carolyn enjoyed a 30+ year career with Junior Achievement. Once she retired from JA she went on to work for Ecumenical Social Ministry in Colorado Springs and had a beautiful 9 year career, retiring January 8th 2015.

Carolyn always believed we are all GODS Children and was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church. Her relationship with the pastors of Colorado Springs at ESM was a most rewarding one. Carolyn loved to cook, and would make a meal for anyone in need. Her Sunday family and friends dinner was a cherished moment. My mother also loved to read and shared many books with friends far and wide. She completed the reading of the entire bible, as well as many other books. Carolyn loved to travel, and had such a zest for life, visiting Tokyo, Ireland, Peru, Alaska, and of course several amazing trips to Florida with friends and family.

Carolyn was a loyal and faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ and will be dearly missed by many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Sue Sullivan and Joyce Witten; and her daughter, Paula Mcdole Heinrichs.

Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Tracey D. Tinsley of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by her grandsons, Christopher D. Tinsley of Colorado Springs, CO and Dylan T. Tinsley of Austin, Texas. Carolyn also is survived by her grandson, Andrew Heinrichs of Reno, Nevada and Devan Heinrichs of Iowa. Nephew, Robert Witten of Lawton, Oklahoma, niece, Stephanie Crawford, niece, Melanie Kidd and her son, Tyler Kidd.

Carolyn also leaves behind many beautiful friends from Cleveland, TN. Her Junior Achievement family, Jan Tesch, Shawn O’Hara, Gail Yates and the ‘Wit friends’/trips. During her time at ESM, Carolyn met a group of men from I’raq and as she often did, included them into our family - Sarmad Fadhil Mohammed, Mustafa Alferaji and Yasir Jasmin. Their love for Carolyn was truly amazing. She also adopted into our family a single father, Jorge Moscoso and his young daughter, Maria. Carolyn helped Jorge raise Miss Maria. A special thank you to Maria for coming back to Colorado to be by Carolyn and Tracey Tinsley’s side in final beautiful hours of Carolyn’s life.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, March 10, 2023 at First Lutheran Church, 1515 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80907. A reception is to follow.
