Carol Stralow Roberts

Carol Stralow Roberts, 90, passed away on January 22, 2023, at MacKenzie Place Retirement Community in Colorado Springs, CO., after a fifteen-year battle with cancer. She was born on December 30, 1932, in Morrison, IL to Amelia K. (Janssen) and Paul Stralow.

Carol grew up in Morrison, Illinois and graduated from Morrison High School in 1951 where she was a member of the Honor Society and a commencement speaker. After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles, CA to join her Aunt Edna (Janssen) Coyne and trained to be an x-ray technician.

Carol married Joseph Sydney “Syd” Roberts in 1952 in Hollywood, CA. Syd was a recent chemical engineering graduate from University of British Columbia in Vancouver Canada. They settled in Fullerton, CA and were happily married for 61 years.

After taking time to raise their three children, Carol graduated from Fullerton College with an AA degree and continued her radiologic technology career. The family loved camping and sail boating creating fond memories of their trips throughout the western US and Mexico.

Carol was an avid quilter and Fostoria Glass collector leaving the family with many heirlooms to be forever cherished.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents Amelia K. (Janssen) and Paul Stralow, husband Syd, sister Marilyn Geerts-Eacker, and brother Gordon P. Stralow.

Carol is survived by her sons Michael (Jeannie) Roberts of Bossier City, LA; Mark (Jennifer) Roberts of Newburyport, MA; daughter Maryann (Gary) Schneider of Colorado Springs, CO; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sisters Susanne Housenga of Fulton, IL, and Janice Mitchell of Clinton, IA, along with many nieces and nephews and other relatives. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all.

A celebration of life is being planned in the summer when Carol will be inurned alongside her husband at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs, CO.
