Bob V Mahan

Bob V. Mahan was born in Breckenridge, TX to Tillman Gale Mahan and Irene Roberts Mahan. He moved to Colorado in 1941 with his mother, step-father, Roy West, and sister, Billie. He graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1946.

Bob was employed at Timken Roller Bearing until he went to work for Mountain Bell Telephone in 1953. He worked up the line from Lineman and retired as an Outside Plant Engineer, retiring from US West with 35 years of service. After retirement he worked part time at rental car agencies. Bob was a dedicated member of Grace Baptist Church for many years in later years Freedom Baptist Church.

He was an active member of the Sea Bea’s Reserve in 1953 for 16 years, where he participated in many City Beautifying projects. Bob was also Past Member of El Paso #13 Masonic Lodge, Southern Colorado Consistory, and Al Kaly Shrine. He was active in forming the Potentate’s Motor Escort Parade Unit. He was also a member of VZ Reed Hose Company for many years.

Bob and Bertie enjoyed many wonderful vacations with family and friends over the years. They enjoyed modern square dancing, long weekend motorcycle trips with Escort friends. In later years he enjoyed his 2 “jobs”, morning and afternoon coffee with his buddies.

Bob and Bertie were blessed with 72 years together.

He leaves behind his wife, Bertie; daughter, Patricia Savio (Lou) and son, Rick both of Colorado Springs; Grandsons, Dr. Michael Vinson (Amy) of Katy, TX and Jeff Vinson of Tonganoxie, KS; Great grandsons, Eli Vinson of Tonganoxie, KS and Malcolm Vinson of Katy, TX; 2 Great granddaughters, Natalie Vinson and Ava Vinson both of Tonganoxie, KS; brother-in-law, LeRoy Becker of Loveland, CO; nieces, Linda Davis (Michael) of Peyton, CO and Jeanette Factor of Albuquerque, NM; nephew, Roy Catron of Milwaukee, WI; along with numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene West; sister, Billie Catron and nephew, Cliff Catron.

He will be laid to rest privately at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
