Betty L. Rieger, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on December 2, 2013 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Garden City, Missouri, July 20, 1933 – one of four children born to the late Christopher and Evelyn Kropf. She was also preceded in death by her brother Everett Kropf and sisters Shirley Motley and Nancy Johnston.
Betty graduated from Ballard High School in Butler, Missouri in 1952. After high school, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri with her sister Shirley, to work.
Betty married Ronald K. Rieger in May 1953. They were divorced in May 1973. She worked for the Civil Service for 44 years before retiring as Traffic Management Officer at Peterson Air Force Base.
Family, friends, crafts and travel were very important to Betty. She enjoyed time and vacations with family and friends. Holidays were always a big part of her life. She especially enjoyed painting, crafts, sewing and knitting for family and friends. Betty was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for many years. She was also active in the Painter’s Guild in Colorado Springs. After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering her time at the Colorado Springs Senior Center.
Betty leaves behind to cherish her memory three children, Bruce Rieger (Theresa Kilgore) of Woodland Park, CO, Rhonda Lovato (Mike) of Colorado Springs and Cheryl Glasoe (Steve) of Castle Rock, CO; along with 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 1:00PM.
