Ann Fitzgibbons

of her Savior on January 6, 2020. She passed at home with her family by her

side, just as she would have wished. Her husband of 66 years, Joseph A.,

was holding her hand. She was born in Horseheads, NY, to Ralph and Lois

(nee Watrous) Coney. She graduated from Horseheads High School before

beginning college at SUNY Cortland. She graduated with a Bachelor of

Science degree in education in 1951, which began her long career teaching

younger children. Her employment included teaching in public schools in

Elmira and Rome, NY; at Camp Lejeune, NC; Griffiss Air Force Base; and in

Colorado Springs. She was the Executive Director of Our World in O'Fallon,

IL, and Child Care Director at First United Methodist Church in Colorado

Springs. She loved children, teaching thousands of children during her many

years in education. Ann was loving, kind and devout who always went the

extra mile to help people.

Ann was most proud of her family. She asked all of her family be

acknowledged. Her husband is Joseph Fitzgibbons.

Services will be held Thursday, January 16th at 11 a.m. at the Lehmberg chapel of First

United Methodist Church, 420 North Nevada Ave. In lieu of flowers, Ann asked

donations for The Place (formerly Urban Peak), 423 East Cucharras Street,

CSC 80903.
